Sketch Sat & creative dip

I've hade this cute bear coloured up for about a week now so wanted to make it up into a card but could I get the layout to look right? no! Everything I tried just wasn't doing it for me but in the end I gave up and thought this was as good as it was going to get and I was starting to get sick of the sight of it (ever get like that? Think I'm in one of my creative dips again - must be the weather).

So I'm afraid I've not done justice to the fab sketch over on Sketch Sat and the only thing I like about this card is the colouring and the wax seal I used in the corner! Oh well, we all have off days or at least, I do!

Spoke too soon about the weather and Wimbledon then as the roof got put into good use last night didn't it? What a match, talk about endurance test . . seemed to go on forever!

WoJ Birthday news

Hello, what beautiful weather we're having here in the UK (just don't want it to get any hotter!) - hope you're managing to stay cool wherever you are. Personally, I think Wimbledon has jinxed it with their new roof over centre court - you can usually always tell it's Wimbledon fortnight as it tends to rain a bit, but not a drop so far LOL

Anyway, back to my card and some exciting news.

Whiff of Joy stamps is 1 year old (Can't believe I've been lucky enough to have been there from the start, it doesn't seem that long)! Katharina will be hosting a party on the 25th July, starting with a blog hop of the next new release. As well as the DT she will be picking 15 WoJ fans to take part in this blog hop. • Papers: K & Co 'classic K Charlotte' and some teal cardstock for my cardbase. The wavy edge was cut with scissors (just used edge of a petite oval die to draw around to create the s shape)
• Others: Blossom nestie to cut out image (just cut around Willow's legs and placed them over the die so that part doesn't get cut off when I ran it through my cuttlebug). Prima flowers, paper roses, raffia ribbon, MS butterfly punch, SU word window punch and flat backed pearls

I'm back!

Hellooo! Have you missed me?! Had a fabulous time in Paris. We chose the perfect time to go as the weather was just right (sunny but not too hot) and we left just as it was forecast to rain that day! Looks like the weather's been fab here to as we came back to wonderful sunshine too.

Took way too many photos so just selected a few and made a little montage to show you. Walked so much, my poor feet need another holiday but it was worth it as the sights and views were spectacular.

Not managed to get back in the craft room yet (unpacking is always the worst bit of holidays isn't it?!) but remember I said I would be attempting to crochet a little Hello Kitty? Well I did and it was finished before I left but didn't have time to schedule a post, so here it is now. This one isn't quite correct as the eyes should be oval not rounf but I just used what I had to hand and I got the head bit slightly wrong but think it turned out o.k! Currently trying a different one, slightly bigger but I do like this dinky size (it's about 4 inches high). (If anyone is wondering, patterns are from Japanese crochet books which you can buy on ebay/etsy). Once I've perfected it a bit I'll be making some as little gifts for my nieces I think.

I'm working tonight and tomorrow now so will leave it till start of new week to start posting again. I will also be doing a blog candy soon as July is around the corner which means my birthday is too, and I've gone past 100,000 hits, so watch this space. T&F ATC 3D Fun: Ca Va?

Bonjour! Ca Va? indeed. Hope you are all 'ca va bien' - All things being well I should be enjoying some Parisian sunshine and taking in the sights of Versailles today. Hopefully blogger is behaving as this is a scheduled post.

We want to see 3D fun on your ATCs this week so I did a quick partial decoupage on mine (her head and the froggie are raised on foam pads and silicone glue but not obvious in photo). I got some of the new Diane Duda stamps from Funky Kits at the weekend and they arrived lightening quick on Sat and I just had to use this one as I thought it was quite fitting ;D

Did my usual quick background stamping and sponging with distress inks followed by spritz of perfect pearls and image coloured with Copics.

Afraid I ran out of time so no CCT card tomorrow but I'll catch up when I get back.

WoJ & copic challenge: sweet angel

WoJ this week wants to see paper piercing and the colours over on Copic colour challenge matched the scraps of DP I had out on my desk so I've killed 2 birds with one stone as I've left it last minute (as usual) and still need to pack for our trip to Paris tomorrow plus I want to try and get my DT cards done so I can schedule those to post whilst I'm away (but don't hold me to it!).

The super sweet 'Willow with toddler' and sentiment are from the latest WoJ 'women's delight' release, dp are from scraps of my last card below, rest from stash (roses are new purchase from wild orchid crafts - thanks to Bev's link! they are gorgeous, think I'll be back for more and the little flat backed pearls are from Silly Monkeys - love the size (4mm) and colour of them - again want the others now LOL)

Right, must go and pack my clothes (trying to pack light but not easy when indecisive like me) and whip up couple of DT things and schedule those for the week as I won't be around till Thursday now. So have a super week and au revoir!

CCT - tag

CCT wants to see tags this week - so it could be a tag card or just a tag somewhere on your card. I went for the easy option and used a tag and thought I'd use a Sarah Kay image which I haven't used for a very long time (this one is the first time it's been inked!).
As the image is farmy/rustic I chose papers and fibres to keep to that feel. The papers were actually meant to be the other way round - the big background piece was supposed to be the pink side and the strip behind her should have been yellow but I stuck the scalloped borders to the wrong side of that piece (obviously still wasn't 100% - no that isn't normal !) so I had to flip them - joys of double sided papers, easy to make mistakes but also easily rectified :)
Stash:

• Images: 'country girl' Sarah Kay stamp, sentiment is a Magnolia stamp (do love the sentiments they do now - love the fonts they use)
• Colouring: Copics and yse, been doing that sponging thing with my distress inks again for the background - think it's out of my system now LOL
• Papers: K & Co 'wild raspberry' pad, the tag is from matching tag pad
• Others: labels nesties (can never remember what number the sets are) just used technique to cut around her head and traced around the nestie to get the larger brown mat (which is scrap piece of packaging I saved as it has lovely wood grain effect pattern printed on it), raffia ribbon, paper twine, roses, Fiskars apron lace border punch and MS branch punch.

Right, need to go get my haircut today (nothing major, it's always some sort of a mid length bob which ends up growing out until I can't ignore it anymore and it needs another prune) and think about what I need for next week's little jaunt to Paris.

Sorry not been blog hopping recently but haven't been in the mood what with my cold but feel better today so will try and come say hello later tonight.

T & F ATC - 'Father's day'

T & F's ATC theme this week is 'father's day'. Needed something quick again last night (just wasn't feeling crafty yesterday - my cold was at that horrible congested chest/coughy stage and all I wanted to do was curl up in bed and watch trashy daytime tv - does wonders!).

So anyway, didn't want to, 'not do my bit', so had a think of what would be quick and came up with this 'fella' stamp (Stamping Bella's other half). Coloured him with Copics (and realised afterwards I didn't really need to have coloured him with shading as he's not fully 3D anyway - he's got stick arms!) To jazz up the background I just masked him off then stamped some text stamps (old Hero arts set) randomly behind him and then spritzed some of my home made shimmer over it (water & perfect pearls in spritzer bottle - just make sure you spray inside an old cardboard box to contain the mess!) Then I just matted it all onto scrap piece of silver mirri card. Simple but effective I hope, really pleased with the shimmery background - might see it better if you click on photo.

O.K off to finish off my CCT card for tomorrow (best thing to do as it's been chucking it with rain all morning ) and then need to work up some energy for work this evening but am feeling much better today - thank goodness, as I've got our mini vacation next Mon (we decided on Paris in the end) just hope hubby hasn't caught my cold now, he was sniffling a bit last night :o

So may not be posting as much over this weekend as got stuff to sort out and any crafty things I will make I will be eeking them out so that I can schedule some posts whilst I am away but I'll be back tomorrow.

Spoonful with fairy doodles

Just a quick card today or else I'll miss spoonful challenge deadline. They want to see butterflies so I've obliged by adding a little punch out one in the corner!

The cutie patootie I've used is from set of 'Fairy doodles' stamps (set 343). It's very 3D in real life as I've decoupaged her head, arms, flower and 2 feet but it doesn't look it in photo!

• Colouring: Copics for image. Background done by sponging distress inks (as per my card below - loved the effect so much, did it again!)

WoJ and lil bit of crochet

Here's another cute WoJ wedding stamp, this one is the fab wedding carriage which just cries out for flower soft only I don't have the right shade of green so just used it for the bits of flowers and I also made my own little flower bouquet (top left) - supposed to look like Willow's just thrown it out as they head off to their honeymoon :)

Used the sketch over on WoJ for this one (but put my sentiment in bottom corner rather than top left as it didn't look right on mine).

Stash:

• Colouring: Copics. For the background I left the nestie on after cutting out and sponged distress ink in 'broken china' and 'dusty concord' around image to create the background. (I also cut the wheels of the carriage and placed above the nestie edge prior to running through cuttlebug so that it fits outside of the frame - probably not explaining very well but there are tutorials around if you need it. Think Katharina did one a while back)

Cold's a bit better today but still not 100% so been taking it easy and been doing a bit more 'Amigurumi' crochet. I'm finding it very addictive as you basically only need to know how to do a double crochet stitch (or single crochet if you're American), so very easy. Here's a little bear I made (the fact his ears and limbs don't match in size doesn't really matter I hope LOL) I just stuck the bottle of stickles next to him so you'd get a sense of the dinky size that he is. He's a bit rough around the edges but I hope it just adds to his unique charm :)

I'm attempting to do a little hello kitty next, so will see how that turns out.

HH: 'a little behind' and fintastic dad

Wanted to make some 'fun- cute' cards for a break from all the 'pretty/feminine' cards I've been making (else they get a bit samey and mojo goes!). So dug out my High Hopes and made father's day card for FIL (before hubby asks for one last minute!) and then as I needed a belated birthday card for my friend, found the perfect sentiment and image for it. For speed, I used the sketch over on High Hopes this week.

So here's the belated birthday card using Nikki's sketch over on High Hopes challenge.

Gave my Copics a break for this one and watercoloured instead, using distress inks and twinkling H2Os (talking of which anyone still waiting for theirs from Luminarte? If not, how long did your order take? It's been 2 months now :/)

• Images: again, all High Hopes, except the texts which are from various other stamps and inside chinese wording I printed off the pc (thank goodness for the internet as my Chinese writing is less than awful)
• Colouring: Stamped onto watercolour paper and coloured with distress inks and H2Os. the background sea was sponged after masking the fish then sprayed some perfect pearls over it (just mixed it with water in a mini mister spray bottle) as an alternative to glimmer mist which I don't have
• Paper: no dp used, just pearlescent cardstock run through cuttlebug bubbles folder and circle cut out using nesties

I'll leave you with this shot of the fish where you can hopefully see all the shimmer on them and in the 'water' around them.

CCT quote with WoJ baby preview

CCT wants to see quotes on your cards this week.

I've chosen one of the fab little quotes you get in the babies sentiment set from WoJ and teamed it with this beautiful pregnant Willow stamp and the little floral swing again (release date this Sun, 14th). She looked so elegant that I had to paperpierce her a shimmery frock! Also thought I'd give her a different hair colour to my usual black, so today, she's got lovely deep rich auburn locks! Sorry for the poor photo but lighting was terrible when I took it yesterday (where's the sunlight/summer gone?!)Used a ready embossed cardblank with the word 'baby' all over it so no patterned papers needed for this. Just chose this lovely pale aqua/mint pearlescent cardstockas there's flashes of that colour in the glitter of her dress and used that as my accent colour to mat my central image and the quote - all cut with nesties (My image was cut using the largest nestie die so to create the bigger blue mat behind it I just traced around the largest die and cut it out by hand).

Again, was supposed to be simple but just couldn't stop myself from adding some roses and embellies! Dodgy photo means I've not captured the sparkle in her dress and the fact that I've decoupaged her head and 2 arms (one of which went walkabout and I nearly lost it LOL).

Photo below can just about see the 3D-ness (just made that word up) of it all. I've given her liquid pearl necklace and ring too in mint green (that stuff is fab, I've had these bottles for years and they haven't dried or clogged!)
Ooo, just realised I can enter this into this week's ABC challenge of R for roses :) too.

I liked how this turned out and so did hubby which is unusual as these ones aren't usually his cup of tea.

T&F ATC: summer fun

It's Wed, which means ATC time and something just for a bit of fun. This week's theme is 'summer fun' so anything summer inspired. I thought it was perfect excuse to ink up Surfer Ian from The Greeting Farm.

I wanted to create a motion effect so stamped him again twice in the background in versamark and heat embossed it before sponging the background and drawing in some waves. Then I just stamped and cut out another surfer Ian, coloured him with Copics and stuck him on with 3d foam. I used a darker Copic than usual to give him a nice tan - factor Copic E11 LOL. Stamped the word sunshine across the back (more to hide a bit of smudged ink than anything else!) and added an orange mat and so more wording in the corners and that's it . . oh and a bit of stickles too, can't not have a bit of glitter somewhere

WoJ - bundle of joy

O.K after 2 wedding cards it's time for a baby :) I've made a 'spring' card which has lots of folds so should qualify for the challenge over on Truly scrumptious.

I've used this adorable image from the new batch of WoJ baby releases which was just so pretty that I just had to add all the flowers and hearts around her, couldn't stop myself!
I used a pearlescent cardstock so it looks a bit dark in this top photo, whereas the photo below shows it more shimmery and the lighter shade that it is (but then you can't see the stamped sentiment in that photo so thought I'd put both on!)
Stash:

• Images: Willow with baby (don't know the proper names for them yet!) and sentiment both Whiff of Joy stamps released June 14th
• Colouring: Copics (just saw the news about the new light 0000 shades coming out soon- will definately be getting those as I use light shades to create my highlights and blend - hardly ever use my blender pen)
• Paper: K& CO paper and white glitter paper as per my last card but mainly just the pink pearlescent cardstock which I folded into the spring shape - easy to do with a scorer and instructions can be found over on SCS.
• Others: Martha stewart scallop border punch, heart punch, EK swirl punch and prima flowers with paper rose centres to finish

WoJ - a different bride :o

Shocking I know but Oakley's gone and got himself another bride for today's preview card LOL. Tried to do something different to yesterday's and was supposed to go all minimalist but didn't quite turn out how I had it in my head (really need to learn to stop adding and messing with a card)! Not that happy with the end result apart from the cute couple :) Photo is too dark too - may look better if you click on it for close up. Back to a normal 6x6 square card after yesterday's massive one and had to use flowersoft on the flowers - this stuff was just made for Elisabeth's images I think, love it! Used some bling gems on this and her dress is super shimmery IRL so should qualify for this week's secret crafter.

Stash:

• Images: groom and bride plus the sentiment from the new WoJ release out 14th June
• Colouring: Copics, twinkling H2O on her dress and flowersoft added to the flowers in her hair and bouquet (didn't have the right green so used some ivory flowersoft and coloured it with my copics - fiddly but doable in small quantities!)
• DP: what little there is is from K& Co sparkly sweet matted onto white glitter paper. The card base is a ready embossed cardblank - very handy! Just swiped over it with some distress inks and versamark dazzle
• Others: few gems and EK success photocorner punch

WoJ Peview delight & candy!

Yeah, it's preview time as Whiff of Joy will be releasing their 'Women's Delight' collection on the 14th June. So in the run up to that make sure you check out all the DT this week for previews of all the delights to come! There may also be the odd candy here and there too - I have one and I know Camilla has one which will be a perfect match to mine :), but will get to that later.

I had a hard choice choosing which stamp to show you first as there are so many gorgeous images, all in the theme of weddings and babies. So wedding first I think!

All the Images & sentiments are from the new release (about from the small swirls on the edges of the card) and are great to mix and match. Don't you just love all those sentiments? They all come on 1 sheet of rubber and I loved how they all looked as they were so rather than pick just 1 sentiment I just stamped it all as one, onto acetate and added it over my dp which I didn't want to hide. Willow bride, the swing and Oakley groom are all seperate stamps but I just used masking technique to create my little scene. They have been coloured with Copics and then coat of twinkling H2O over her dress and his waistcoat for added shimmer. Here's a close up shot of the image.

Can I just say that I must have subconsiously thought Oakley looked like hubby as I ended up colouring him in exactly the same outfit he wore on our wedding day - he even commented on it when I showed him LOL

I added the elegant dove in the corner as it looked a bit bare. Gave him a bit of texture by using white 'fluffy stuff' on him, rolled it out flat (bit messy!) before heating it with heat gun to give him his feather look. The charm on it qualifies it for this week's WoJ challenge :)

I also want to enter this into this week's 'Copic Creations #5 - clear/transparent things' as I've coloured Willow's veil so that it looks like you can still see bits of the swing and flowers behind it and also her dress sleeves are transparent so a hint of her arm can be seen through that too, close up below . .

Here is another shot of the whole card, this captures the shimmer on their clothes better but not on the glorious dp (DCWV luxury stack, knew it'd come in handy one day!)

Sugarbowl #12

Here's my entry for this week's sugarbowl #12 (which I intended to do to Kathy's sketch #11 but when I went to check saw that I was too late for that one -thought I had plenty of time, how can 2 weeks go by so quickly?!!! sorry Kathy :( wanted to join in your first sketch too )

Anyway, this week's is similar so I tweaked it to the correct layout and thought I'd enter before the 2 weeks go by without me noticing again! Wanted a more tactile/washed out look to my image to tie in with the overall shabby look, so went for watercolour paper and distress inks and gave my Copics a break. Think I've covered the extra option of using blue & green too (card base and swirl is a teal blue)

Stash:

• Image: 'stitch' by Leann Ellis, Sugar Nellie stamp
• Colouring: stamped with Versafine onto watercolour card and used distress inks to colour
• Paper: MME 'wild asparagus' paper pad - love the vintage/distress look to these.
• Others: distress tool and 'pinking' craft scissors for paper edges, faux stitching with white gel pen, strip of canvas fabric (wrote on a tiny piece for the sentiment), sewed the buttons on, ribbon and swirl punch to finish

CCT 'nip & punch': gift card holder

CCT this week want's a 'nip & punch' so time to get those punches and die cuts out. Prize this week is sponsored by Short Cuts and all the DT were given some of their products to make this week's card. So I used their gift card holder inside one of their frosted card blanks to make this (prepare yourself, although I did use some rubber stamps, there's minimal 'colouring' and no main stamped image - I know it all felt very alien to me putting this together!) . .

I was struggling for time last night and as the theme was die cuts I thought I'd had a 'Eureka' moment by choosing to use die cuts for my focal images and it would save time - pah, was it heck! Now I know why I don't use my dies that often - much too fiddly for me to cut out all the bits in the right colours and them stick them all together, give me a stamped image to colour any day LOL


Anyway, apart from the fiddly process of assembling my die cut 'choclates' (sizzix die set), the rest of the card itself was lovely and quick to put together, I just stamped some cherries (part of a woodware 'ice cream parfait' clear stamp set) all over the frosted cardblank with Staz On ink then coloured those in with my Copics and the gift card holder inside was all precut so was just case of sticking and adding to the inside. Added sentiment (from the same ice cream set), cut with nesties circle dies and matted with red gingham glitter card (thought it looked like tablecloth) before arranging all my chocs around it. Then as the acetate is lovely and thick I punched hole with cropodile, added eyelets and tied with ribbon to keep it closed. Also added strip of the gingham glitter card on the back to hide the tape marks. It's a bit different to what I normally make, but I quite like the result, hope you do too.

sweet 16

Oops, left this in my draft box and forgot to press 'publish' yesterday! So double post today. My ATC will be below this post.





















It's my niece's 16th birthday today (how time flies) and I knew I just had to make her birthday card with this Rakle stamp I won last week in one of their challenges (thanks Lisbet, it got here so quickly!).

It just reminds me of her - she is tall and thin and has a tiny little face like that (only prettier!) and I'm forever seeing her in vest tops and crop jeans. I've chosen colours that are more 'her' (very bright and wacky!) and put it all together to make a big A5 (half A4) card.

Stash:

• Images: 'hanging out' Rakle stamp, Autumn leaves circle seal stamp
• Colouring: Copics
• Papers: Making Memories
• Others: chipboard letters/shapes from an old QVC pack, pink pom pom trim.

Hope you're all continuing to enjoy this fabulous weather although it seems to have cooled a bit today. I've been making a few more crochet Amigurumi things (may post those later this week) and just had the best paper fix when my MME paper pads arrived (good old ebay!). Oooo, they are gorgeous (even if they are some of the 'older' ranges they are all new to me! Magnolia, Bohemia and Asparagus) These are the big 180 sheet pads so it's paper weight - great for keeping the bulk down when I want to do lots of layers to my cards and so much of it I'm not going to get precious and hoard it for ages before using LOL. So watch out - may see lots of MME papers on my cards soon if I can decide what to use first!

T&F ATC with Just Magnolia

Tilda & Friends has an Open theme this week for it's ATCs so took the opportunity to make this quick little ATC with one of my Tildas . .

which I then turned into a card to fit this week's 'Just Magnolia' challenge - 'animal & insects' (I've used butterfly charm and magnolia butterfly & insects stamps on the background. There was a little butterfly on the bunch of roses Tilda is holding which was why I picked her in the first place but it got chopped off when I sized it down to ATC size so had to improvise with the charm etc!!). . .

Really simple card but after playing around with the layout it didn't look if I tried to add more so left it as it was.

Not much to say about it as it was all made out of scraps I'm trying to use up on my desk (had a big clear out of scraps as realistically if it doesn't get used it just ends up piling up in my overflowing scrap box and to be honest, as Hubby pointed out it's not like I'm going to run out of paper anytime soon. So from now one, only really big pieces are being put into a box which I can use for ATCs otherwise it's going in the recycle bin). Usual coloured with Copics and stickles added to flowers for sparkle.

WoJ, June POM

It's the 1st of the month (pinch & a punch ;p) which means it's time for another WoJ project.

Project of the Month for June is to make a gift for father's day. I've gone for something simple and fairly generic (CD holder) so could be used for other occasions too, depending on how you decorate the front. Perfect for making a personal compilation of music or photos and giving as a little gift whatever the occasion. It is lovely and quick to make, especially if you have a scor-pal. I've used the lovely 'willow armchair' and just added a sentiment into the middle and kept it all simple and fairly masculine.

It is straight but just looks wonky as I think I must have taken it at a funny angle!)

Instead of flowers, I've added some metal charms which I thought went very well with the whole 'relax and unwind theme' :) Got these charms off ebay a while ago now and have been waiting to use them for some time.

'It's your day' is another WOJ stamp as too is the bowl of apples which I have stamped with dazzle versamark inkpad on the bottom panel. You can see that better in the photo below which shows where the cd sits inside.

Right, that's me done for the day on the PC I think, as it's just too beautiful a day to be stuck inside and we all know this sort of weather just doesn't last long in UK so make the most of it whilst it's here!
