WoJ for the weekend

Bit behind on the christmas cards so coloured a few WoJ images up at the same time (which I don't usually do) and gave my distress inks & twinkling H2O's an airing for a change. This is the first of them.

Thought this Willow would look cute teamed with the armchair so stamped and masked her and added the chair. As I've watercoloured with combination of distress inks and H2O's it is lovely and shimmery IRL not sure if you can just about pick up a bit of it in the photo below.

Not much else to say about this really as I kept the rest of the card very simple to leave the focus on the sweet image.

Stash:
  • Stamps: all WoJ
  • Colouring: stamped in versafine ink onto watercolour paper and watercoloured with distress inkpads and twinkling H2)s
  • Paper: Basic Grey, not sure which one it was a loose 12x12 sheet
  • Tools: MS doily deep edger punch, holly punch, labels nestie
  • Others: flat backed pearls in cream and red

Should have another card or 2 to show tomorrow too (one should be a new Kraftin Kimmie release if I can finish it in time!). So hopefully see you then.

  • Have a lovely Saturday. I'm starting to feel a bit more christmassy now that we've gone and bought a new tree (took the plunge and got a non-green one for first time ever ! . . it's a lovely champagne colour). Just need to sort out the presents and everything else now!

CCT ~ 'snips, snails, . . . little boys': 'No Peeking'

CCT theme this week is to make card for a younger boy. As always, CCT have fab sponsored prizes (this week it's some cute, new, 'Pink cat' stamps from Silly Monkey) so be sure go have a look and check out the other fab DT cards once you've finished here. So, I thought I could use one of my cute CC Designs stamps I've been itching to use but not got round to, for this one. Isn't he adorable. I love his patterned sweater and the candy cane accessories are fab. I got him as part of their winter kit about a month ago ( and then they don't release them individually until a bit later, bit like Magnolia kits. Think these are due for Dec release if you're looking for them and your usual CC Designs stockists should have them). Can't tell from the photo but he is cut out and stuck ontop of the present stack with foam pads as are the candy canes. Then it's just a piece of Basic Grey DP and contrasting border strip running across and job done! didn't need anything else as the paper's so busy anyway.

    Stash:
  • Stamps: Reindeer Trevor, presents, candy canes and sentiment all CC Designs stamps
  • Colouring: Copics
  • Paper: Basic Grey - can't remember the name one of the xmas ranges from last year or before.
  • Tools: MS border punch, circle nestie dies
  • Others: stickles on the candy cane

Thanks for looking and all the comments are always appreciated.

couple of challenges with 'Xmas Anya'

Wanted to try out a white inkpad I got from Elzybells today and loved the whiteness of it (have others which just don't stamp out that crisp on dark cardstock)! So anyway, that's how this card started as I didn't want to waste my test piece so it ended up being used as my background paper (I added holographic embossing powder to it for extra glitter) to this cute Anya stamp from Silly Monkeys.
Looked around for inspiration and have taken the sketch over on Fri sketchers and seeing as it's Anya thought I'd play along to 'Anyone for Anya' which this weeks wants to see 'fakes'. On mine, I've got fake stitching, fake brads (little circles cut out with regular hole punch which was then shaped with embossing tool and glued on) and fake fur trim on her outfit using 'fluffy stuff' which has added glamour dust added before blasting with heatgun to make it extra puffy. All the snowflakes down the left are raised on foampads but it comes across flat in photo!

    Stash:

  • Stamps: Anya from 'Xmas sweeties' set, snowflakes used on background paper and sentiment circle from a Papermania stamp duo set.
  • Colouring: Copics
  • Paper: tiny bit MME - just the stripe piece used for the big snowflake and the punched out border behind her, red & brown cardstock plus some white glitter paper
  • Tools: MS doily lace trim deep edger punch, large snowflake and medium snowflake punches, couple of circle punches and a good old office hole punch for the fake brads
  • Others: woodware 'white fluffy stuff', glamour dust, white gel pen for faux stitching

Thanks for stopping by & have a good night/day depending where you are. Happy Thanksgiving for tomorrow, to all my US readers :)

    WoJ: 'Merry & bright'

Just a simple card from me today. Need some non cute cards for neighbours etc and this gorgeous WoJ Candle is just perfect.

Also great chance for me to play with some of my new Martha stewart punches (yes, I'm addicted and also running out of rail space to hang them. Hmm trip to Ikea soon me thinks). Hardly any decent light today and I suck at trying to take pictures that show dimension/shadows AND the true colours of the card, so here's another shot of it showing the true white that it actually is.

    Hope you like it.

    Stash:

  • Stamps: Candle - Whiff of Joy, sentiment from CC Designs' Winter kit (think they will be released seperately soon). I've overstamped it 2nd time to give it a shadow effect (but it was really to hide the fact the first impression wasn't straight LOL - worked a treat I think & no doubt if I try to replicate it, I'll fail!)
  • Colouring: Copics, lots of Sakura glaze pens to give it a glossy sheen which can only be seen IRL
  • Paper: none! just strip of red cardstock run through cuttlebug holly embossing folder and the card base with the snowflakes folder
  • Tools: Embossing folders, Martha Stewart holly punch & central image was using the new around the page 'topiary set'
  • Others: stickles on the flame and red flat backed pearls for the holly berries. foam pads to stick the central image on

WoJ: card & a candy winner

Hello, sorry for the lack of posts this weekend - this card just seemed to take forever to come together & I don't like to start a new card until I've finished the one I'm working on! So what with that, me working weekends and then an hour long powercut in the early hours yesterday/today (even though most people would have been asleep that's when I craft/tinker on the pc being the night owl that I am) I've only just finished it.

so anyway, here it is. Wanted to try a collagy/distressed look with handsome little Oakley from the Winter kit.
I've stamped a WoJ xmas tree to one side and him to the front then masked him and added music sheet behind him (an Magnolia 'silent night' stamp from last year). Then it's all been sponged with distress inks and all the edges have been set upon with my distresser. It's been spritzed with glimmer mist but it doesn't show at all in the photo and the little bauble has diamond glaze and glamour dust over it. After all that, I'm not quite sure I like it but it's done now!

  • Stamps: Oakley & tree - WoJ. Music & the merry christmas seal- Magnolia
  • Colouring: Images coloured with Copics, background sponged with distress inks
  • Paper: MME 'signiture Christmas'
  • Tools:Heidi swapp distresser, mini holly punch
  • Others: ribbon, red half backed pearls, white bellas baubles, white gel pen for faux stitching

That's all for now. Have a lovely evening.

    CCT-teen terrors: 'Christmas fun'

CCT this week wants to see cards for teenagers. I'm afraid mine's a bit uninspired this week as I suddenly didn't feel too well last night and needed an early night. (suddenly got sniffles & sneezes and very tired thought I was coming down with cold but seems to have gone today :)) AOL kept playing up too so had to leave it till now to post.

So anyway, teen cards means bright funky colours & simple clean layouts to me and thought it was great opportunity for me to dig out some Kerry Jo stamps I got last year but never got round to using them all. Think they are perfect teen images, just a shame I couldn't come up with something better layout wise, but this was quick and simple.

    It's a kick stand card, so here's another shot of it, folded flat and also should be able to see all the glitter better;

    Stash:
  • Stamps: 'Kerry Jo Christmas' set
  • Colouring: Copics
  • Paper:scrap from Cosmo Cricket 'Jolly by Golly' and kraft card base
  • Tools: MS loopy around the page border set, MS snowflake punch (not sure about the large one, it was a freebie diecut in 1 of my orders from Dies to Die for)
  • Others: faux stitching and lots of stickles
